Find Dixon Recent Arrests

Dixon recent arrests can start with more than one agency. City police make many of them. The Lee County Sheriff's Office runs the jail. Sometimes another agency makes the arrest. Anyone checking who was arrested in Dixon needs to understand that split. City records show what officers did. County booking records show the jail stay and custody status, while a court file tells the rest of the story.

How Dixon Arrests Move

Dixon has its own police department. The city is also Lee County's seat. The courthouse sits inside Dixon. So do the Circuit Clerk, the Sheriff's Office, and the Lee County Jail. Records sit close together, yet they are not the same record. Dixon Police write the incident and arrest reports. Once a person enters county custody, the Sheriff maintains the jail booking material. The Circuit Clerk takes over the case when charges reach court.

The 2020 Census counted 15,274 residents, the largest incorporated place in Lee County. That number is context only. It is not an arrest total. A jail's Dixon address does not make every Lee County booking a Dixon arrest. Check the arresting agency first. Then check the arrest location before counting an event as a city arrest.

Note: for case status, rely on the court disposition, meaning the final recorded outcome, rather than the booking charge.

Where Dixon Arrests Appear

Each source keeps its own time window. Each serves a different job. Start with an official source, and let news pages or archives add context while the agency's record still governs.

Find a Dixon Arrest Booking

Start with a time frame. Then follow the record holder. A booking happens right after an arrest, when the jail logs identity, charges, and custody details.

  1. For an event believed to be very recent, open the Daily Arrest Report, which explains how to isolate the latest day from Lee County's rolling report.
  2. Use the official current inmate list to check present county custody. A missing name may mean release, transfer, a spelling issue, or no county-jail booking.
  3. Review the Weekly Arrest Log for the broader multi-day window and its linked detail structure.
  4. Check the Dixon monthly blotter when the question concerns Dixon Police activity rather than jail status.
  5. Request the relevant report from Dixon Police or the Sheriff, based on which agency holds it.
  6. Use the Circuit Clerk portals for the filed charge, hearing date, and disposition.

Start with the Lee County recent-arrests guide, which compares the roster, booking reports, records requests, warrants, and later custody systems. It covers gaps too. It explains why a name can drop off the current roster while an arrest record still exists.

Dixon Arrest Records Requests

Dixon's FOIA page routes requests to the Dixon Police Department Records Department. Keep the request narrow. Name a record type. Add a date range. Helpful identifiers include the incident number, the arrest date, the arresting agency, and a subject name when known. Say whether you want an incident report, an arrest report, or a booking photograph. Illinois FOIA gives Dixon five working days to respond, with five more allowed when needed. Posted copy terms make the first 50 black-and-white pages free, charge 15 cents per page after that, and list a $3 CD or DVD. Confirm the fee and format for your exact record.

A county jail booking record goes to the Sheriff. The Sheriff FOIA form accepts email at dgugerty@countyoflee.org, fax at 815-284-1146, and mail or drop-off at 240 E. Progress Drive, Dixon, IL 61021. Request each item separately. That means the booking sheet, the arrest summary, the bond or release record, or the booking photograph. Lee County posts no policy promising that a booking photo appears online.

Dixon Arrests and Court Status

A jail or police record captures an early stage. The Lee County Circuit Clerk Matrix searches by party name. It also works with case or citation number and date. Its guidance covers adult felony, misdemeanor, criminal traffic, and detention-hearing categories. The Full Court Enterprise portal is another official access point. Online access varies by document and case status. Call the Circuit Clerk at 815-284-5234 when a result is unclear.

The disposition is the final action recorded in a case. Read that instead of the booking charge. A bond entry sets release conditions, and it is not a sentence. Someone may leave the county jail. VINELink Inmate Check can track the custody event or send alerts. VINE is not the court docket.

Older Dixon material takes a focused trail. Live jail documents are rolling reports, not permanent public archives. Ask Dixon Police for a dated municipal report. Ask the Sheriff for a dated jail record. Ask the Circuit Clerk for the case file. The Illinois State Archives and its regional depository can identify historic holdings. They list no modern Lee County jail-register series, though. Ask whether the record still exists. Ask who else holds it, and which retention schedule applies. A vanished web link does not mean the public record was lawfully erased.

Safe Passage Without Arrest

Not every Dixon police contact with drugs ends in an arrest. Dixon Police and the Lee County Sheriff both take part in Safe Passage, a program that lets a person hand over drugs or paraphernalia and ask for treatment instead of facing booking. A Shaw Local report on Safe Passage traces how the effort took shape. So the arrest count tells only part of the story. A jail roster search will miss these encounters entirely. Safe Passage is not a promise, though. Rules differ, and eligibility changes. Call the participating agency to confirm how the program works now. Dixon simply has more than one answer to drug-related police contact, and only one of them involves a cell.

Dixon Arrest News Limits

Shaw Local's Sauk Valley section covers the Dixon area well. Its records coverage is selective, though. A story might name the arresting agency. It might add court details or run a photo from police or the paper. That picture is not always a Lee County booking photo. Read the story for its own context. Treat the news index as a sample, not a full arrest roster.

Commercial sites also copy Lee County arrest material. Their entries can sit stale for months. They may list only partial charges or skip what a court later decided. No galleries of faces appear here. Illinois law handles corrections, sealing, and expungement. It puts them in the hands of the courts and the official record holder. A copied page on a third-party site may need its own separate publisher request.
